Mass Email Notifications gives you flexible throttling options to stay under your provider’s caps. Each limit type can be used on its own or combined for layered safety.
Per-Minute / Per-Hour #
- Control short bursts of sending.
- Example: 20/minute and 100/hour ensures you never exceed either pace.
Per-Day / Per-Month #
- Enforce longer-term quotas.
- Example: 1,000/day and 20,000/month.
- Daily reset can be at midnight or based on a rolling 24 hour time period.
- Monthly can reset either on the 1st or a custom day that matches your billing cycle.
Rolling vs. Fixed Resets #
- Fixed Reset: Caps reset at a specific time (e.g., midnight daily).
- Rolling Reset: Caps reset in a moving window (e.g., past 24 hours).
- Rolling provides smoother pacing if your provider enforces limits that way.
Compound Rules #
- You can combine multiple limits to cover all angles.
- Example: 50/minute, 500/hour, 5,000/day.
- If any limit is reached, sending pauses until that window resets.
Why It Matters #
- Providers can suspend accounts that exceed limits.
- Entering values conservatively ensures room for other WordPress emails (like password resets or WooCommerce orders).
With flexible throttling models, you can match your provider’s requirements exactly and keep campaigns safe from being blocked.
