Double Opt-In Settings (Premium Version)

Premium users can enable Double Opt-In to require confirmation before adding recipients to mass email batches. This ensures that only verified, consenting users receive your messages.

You’ll find these options under Form Settings → Mass Notifications → Double Opt-In—a new tab next to Feeds in the Mass Email Notifications interface.

Target Form #

Select the form that stores your confirmed subscribers. This is often your CRM or contact database form.

When a user confirms their subscription, the corresponding entry on this target form is updated to mark them as opted in.

Email Field #

Choose which field on the target form holds the recipient’s email address. The plugin uses this to locate the matching entry when confirmation occurs.

Double Opt-In Checkbox Field #

Pick a Checkbox field with a single choice. This acts as your opt-in marker. When the user clicks the confirmation link, this checkbox is automatically checked for that entry.

Apply to All Entries with Same Email #

If enabled, all entries on the target form that share the same email will be marked as confirmed when one entry is confirmed.

This is helpful when deduping or when multiple entries exist for the same user:

  • Enable it if you want all entries for that user treated as confirmed.
  • Leave it off if you prefer to only mark the most recent entry.

Confirmation Landing Page URL #

After the recipient clicks the confirmation link, they are redirected to this page.
If left blank, a generic confirmation page is shown. You can replace it with your own landing page to provide a branded confirmation experience.

Confirm Link Text #

Sets the visible text for your confirmation link. Defaults to “Confirm subscription.”
This text is used by the confirmation link merge tag.

Merge Tags #

Once Double Opt-In is configured, two merge tags become available in your notification templates:

  • {menfgf_double_opt_in_url} – Generates the full confirmation URL.
  • {menfgf_double_opt_in_link} – Creates a clickable link using the Confirm Link Text value.

Insert one of these tags into the email sent after signup. When the recipient clicks it, the system marks the opt-in checkbox as checked on the matching entry (and on any duplicates, if configured).

Feed Filter Option #

On the Feed Settings tab (where you configure batch sending), a checkbox labeled “Send only to double opt-in entries” is available.
This acts as a shortcut filter so you can quickly send messages only to confirmed users, without adding conditional logic.

Opt-In Notification Trigger #

After users confirm their subscription, you can send them a follow-up email—such as an “Email Confirmed” or Welcome message. This is done directly from your Sign-Up Form, using a new notification trigger created automatically by the plugin called Double Opt-In. Once enabled, this trigger allows you to send an “Email Confirmed” or similar message immediately after the user confirms their subscription. This ensures users immediately receive an acknowledgment or next-step message after confirming their subscription.

Behavior Summary #

  • Double Opt-In is optional but strongly recommended for compliance and deliverability.
  • It updates the checkbox field on your target form when recipients confirm.
  • You can use the opt-in checkbox field as a notification trigger for welcome or follow-up emails.
  • Confirmation and sending logic work seamlessly with other Mass Email features.

Double Opt-In helps maintain a clean, verified recipient list and ensures that every email you send reaches someone who has explicitly confirmed interest.
