Mass Email Notifications lets you control how quickly emails are sent, so you never overwhelm your host or exceed your provider’s limits. These rules apply across all feeds and batches.
Available Limits #
You can set caps for:
- Per-minute
- Per-hour
- Per-day
- Per-month
Each limit type can be used alone or combined. For example, you could allow 100 per hour and 500 per day.
Reset Types #
- Fixed Reset: Resets at the same time every cycle (e.g., midnight daily).
- Rolling Reset: Resets based on a moving window (e.g., the past 24 hours).
- Custom Monthly Reset Day: Choose which day of the month your monthly cap resets — handy if your plan runs on a billing cycle other than the 1st.
Best Practices #
- Be Conservative: Enter a lower number than your provider’s published limits. This leaves room for other WordPress emails (like password resets or order confirmations) that also count toward your quota.
- Plan for All Sites: If you’re running multiple sites on the same email plan (including WordPress multisite), divide your real limits across them. For example, if your provider gives you 20,000 per month and you run five sites, aim for about 4,000 per site.
- Combine Safely: Use compound rules (minute + hour + day + month) to prevent sudden spikes while keeping long-term totals under control.
What Happens at the Limit? #
When any cap is reached, Mass Email Notifications automatically pauses the batch. Sending resumes automatically once the next reset window opens.
By setting thoughtful global limits, you protect your sending reputation, avoid unexpected charges, and keep campaigns flowing smoothly.
